March 25 Meeting

Thank you to our guest speakers Elizabeth Elmore and Kim Metcalf for coming to our meeting tonight, answering all our questions and giving us great advice about life after college!

Elizabeth graduated in 2008 with a degree in public relations and international business. She is currently the Assistant Director of Communications for the UGA Alumni Association. Kim graduated with a degree in environmental health science in 1993 and a master’s degree in 1996. She’s an environmental scientist and founder of Riverbend Environmental Inc., an environmental consulting firm.

Internship Bootcamp

Unfortunately, IABC’s “Internship Bootcamp” meeting was cancelled last week due to the snow storm. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the tips and information the executive board has prepared for you! IABC Newsletter

We are very proud to present the first issue of the IABC newsletter, Connections. This issue focuses on internships, and includes tips about networking, personal anecdotes from the e-board, a how-to guide for getting the most out of your internship and several other helpful articles. Thank you to each IABC member that wrote an article, edited submissions or assisted with other editorial tasks. Next Meeting: Tuesday, Oct. 22

On Tuesday, October 22, IABC will be meeting to discuss the importance of a digital portfolio! Don’t have one yet? Come by and find out how to get started! This is the first IABC meeting focused on assisting students with obtaining quality internships and jobs! We will also have a free LinkedIn picture taking and resume critique session in November and many more opportunities throughout the year! Scary special perks if you join IABC by October 31st!

IABC will also be holding its first raffle for a free iTunes gift card! To be eligible, you must do the following:

Georgia Youth to Business Forum on Social Entrepreneurship

 

Social Entrepreneurship is a worldwide movement that directly tackles big social issues, such as education inefficiencies, the environment, human health or poverty.

On October 26th, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Georgia Youth to Business Forum will bring the Social Entrepreneur movement to The University of Georgia. This is a free event that will engage passionate students of all backgrounds and majors to explore the function of Social Entrepreneurship to solve a problem/make a change in the world. Two hundred ambitious and passionate students will be gathered together with six successful social entrepreneurs and experts in Tate Grand Hall. Lectures and workshops will be delivered, conversations will be held, ideas will flourish and the change-making potential of our campus will be discovered.
