President

The president is the chief executive officer of the student chapter and is responsible for:

  • Presiding over the activities of all officers of the student chapter to ensure accomplishment of goals, objectives and strategies
  • Representing the chapter on the local chapter board, before other student chapters and before IABC
  • Presiding over all meetings of the chapter officers and members
  • Monitoring the use of chapter monies and resources
  • Promoting a strong, positive image of IABC among student chapter members
  • Regularly informing the officers and chapter members of IABC activities and issues at all levels of the association
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the IABC/Atlanta chapter
  • Providing recognition to student chapter leaders and volunteers for their contributions

Secretary/Treasurer

This officer is the official record-keeper and chief financial officer of the student chapter. In this capacity, the officer:

  • Records all actions of the board and business of the chapter
  • Maintains all chapter papers and records
  • Serves as secretary to the president as needed and issues all calls and notices
  • Collects and distributes all funds with board approval
  • Keeps accurate and complete records of all financial transactions
  • Works with chapter advisor to maintain the financial account
  • Provides financial reports of revenues and disbursements to the board

 VP of Membership

This officer is responsible for the recruitment and retention of members. In this capacity, the officer:

  • Conducts ongoing recruitment efforts throughout the year.
  • Prepares and distributes membership materials/information kits to prospective members.
  • Follows up with prospective members and offers assistance to answer questions and help them become members.
  • Develops programs to greet and acquaint new members.
  • Maintains an accurate member and prospective member list.

VP of Communication

This officer is responsible for regularly informing the board, chapter members, prospective members, and the campus faculty and community of all chapter business and activities. Included in this responsibility are:

  • Works with Webmaster to maintain chapter website and social media accounts
  • Create promotional materials/messages (flyers, custom email invitations, etc.) to market chapter meetings and workshops
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of the chapter e-newsletter each semester

VP of Programs

This officer is responsible for developing, planning and executing programs and events to meet members’ professional developmental needs. In this capacity, the officer:

  • Monitors, surveys, and represents chapter interests in professional development to the board
  • Develops new activities as required to accomplish the chapter objectives
  • Develops special activities as required to promote professional development and attendance of members
  • Secures any guest speakers needed for general body meetings

 Webmaster

This officer is responsible for the maintenance and development all digital assets. In this capacity, the officer:

  • Works with the VP of Communication to maintain social media accounts
  • Updates the IABC UGA website regularly
  • Oversees content creation for the chapter blog
